This year COW (Connecticut Opposes the War) will not be sponsoring a massive anti-war rally in Hartford. There will be smaller local actions instead.
Wednesday March 19th: 11:30 AM people will gather at the corner of Market and Kinsley Streets near 1 Constitution Plaza (Lieberman’s office). Knowing how Lieberman’s office always rolls out the red carpet for protesters, this ought to be a fun event. Remember to do your yogic centering beforehand, repeat whatever your mantra is, and drink that herbal tea. Only after taking those steps will you be able to minimize your desire to yell at Lieberman’s building guards.
At noon, for those who have lost their zen even after swearing you wouldn’t, there will be an interfaith prayer service at Center Church (corner of Gold and Main). If you aren’t the religious type, may I suggest patronizing local businesses, restaurants, or coffee shops in the meantime? When the service ends there will be a march past the United Technologies building up to the Federal Building on 450 Main Street.
For the more armchair liberal types, and I literally mean armchair, there is an event happening on Tuesday March 4th that likely will not end with your arrest. West Hartford Citizens for Peace and Justice will be sponsoring a showing of the film No End in Sight, hosted at St. James Episcopal Church (1018 Farmington Avenue, WEST Hartford). Doors open at 6, film starts at 7. Admission and parking are free. There will probably be time for discussion after the film.
