Tonight from 6-7:30 candidates will gather one last time at the main branch of the Hartford Public Library to entertain questions.
I will not be able to cover this as I have an ongoing Tuesday night commitment, but here is what will probably go down:
1. Someone will bring up the question of crime, to which most candidates will jump on the “get tough” bandwagon. There will be little or no discourse on the reality of crime or the root causes of it.
2. Perez will still have not demanded that this followers supporters behave with respect for other candidates or the audience. Since Feltman is not in the race anymore, Perez might not harp on th so-called “campaigns of negativity,” which he has so willingly participated in himself. Smear campaigns about Mathews anyone?
3. Again, at some point, Perez will find the opportunity to defend cronyism by claiming that he is really only finding jobs for people in Hartford. And again, the exodus of WFSB will be brought up, as if having them leave the city isn’t a good thing.
If anything remotely intellectual or challenging occurs, I’m assuming that someone will alert me to this.
