Last week the City of Hartford began its efforts to fix up the Bankside Grove section of Pope Park. They have some work still ahead of them, but the improvements are already visible.

Relative to development and tax base, would that segment of Park be a something Hartford could sell? Walking distance to two Fastrak stations. Would make Park St. to Parkville more contiguous as business districts. When I see totally neglected, undeveloped park land I often see part of Hartford’s solution to structural budget woes. Aesthetically and functionally, could be mixed use with mid-rise housing that connects Park Towers to Park St. retail.

I think you’d have one hell of a fight with Friends of Pope Park, the NRZ, and various neighbors…

I appreciate the efforts of those working to clean up Pope Park and other green spaces in Hartford.

I already see a host of lovely daffodils on the hill side of picture #1.
