With news that Mayor Segarra, a member of the Board of Education, is not going to support the conversion of the Clark School to Achievement First, some are wondering what will happen at the next Board of Ed meeting.
Here’s the agenda:
Any member of the public may attend Board of Education meetings.
R McCarthy
This totally dwarfs the failed plan to award Clark School to Achievement First. This is a giveaway of the highest order. Principal Perry formed a charter school nonprofit corporation and now his school, Capital Prep, at present a Hartford magnet school is going to become his own personal charter school. As a bonus he is also being given SAND school. He will have even less oversight than he now has and will have unlimited authority to hire and dismiss staff, use non-certified teachers, reduce salaries, eliminate unions, and raise his own compensation package. Is there anyone opposing this? He has orchestrated/coerced support from his own staff, but are the SAND students/parents/community aware of what is about to happen to their school?
